Manish Pandey Biography

Manish Pandey, born on September 10, 1989, is an Indian right-handed middle-order batsman who currently plays for Karnataka in domestic cricket and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League. He became the first Indian to score a century in the Indian Premier League’s second season (2009), playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Manish made his debut for the Indian cricket team in an ODI against Zimbabwe on July 14, 2015, scoring 71 runs. He is one of the most stylish and unconventional batsmen on the current circuit.

Manish Pandey’s Early and Personal Life

Manish Pandey was born in Nainital, Uttarakhand, in September 1989 to GS and Tara Pandey. His father was in the Indian Army, therefore he started school at Kendriya Vidyalaya. He grew up with his sister, Anita Pandey. In 2019, he married the Tamil actress Ashrita Shetty. His family relocated to Karnataka, and he graduated from Jain University in Bengaluru.

Manish Pandey’s Carrier

After consistent success in the Indian Premier League and domestic circuit, Pandey made his international debut in 2015, when he was selected for the Zimbabwe One-Day International series. He also made his T20I debut during the same season. However, he never got the chance to play a Test match for India. Surprisingly, the Karnataka batsman has played 29 ODIs and 39 T20Is for Team India.

In 68 international games, he has scored one century and five half-centuries. He had a dismal ODI average of 33+, but a fantastic 44+ average in T20Is. However, his strike rate remained low in both, with 90+ in ODIs and 126+ in T20Is. He last played for India during their July 2021 tour of Sri Lanka.
